About Us

The Druid Ukes group photo

The Social-Justice Sing-Along effort draws inspiration from the Civil Rights and anti-war movements of the 1950s-1960s and activists like Pete Seeger (above), but we're affiliated with no official organizations. As Alyx Vesey (an attendee of the first Sing-Along) put it, we believe in:

  • The comfort of singing in a crowd.
  • Using your voice to find and forge community.
  • Blending your voices together to shape air into song.
  • That anyone with a voice can sing.

We also believe that these are sad, dark days when the worst impulses of the American spirit are all too prevalent. We seek solace and inspiration through song.
